Terminal Transfers: The airport has two terminals: Domestic Terminal and International Terminal. Both the terminals are equipped with escalators and elevators.
Directions: The airport is located northwest of Christchurch. Distances from major towns and cities follow: Christchurch - 11km Rangiora – 28 km Darfield – 40 km Methven – 97 km Timaru – 159 km The airport is accessible via State Highway 1.
Airport Parking: The airport has ample parking spaces to meet different requirements. The multi-storied car park has drop-off and pick-up zones on the ground floor. In the Short Term Car Park, parking is complimentary for the first half an hour but parking is free for fifteen minutes only in all other lots. Premium parking spaces are in multi-storied car park and uncovered short term and long term parking areas; and valet parking service is available in the rental vehicles area. Short term parking costs NZD 4.00 for 30-60 minutes, NZD 5.00 for 60-90 minutes, NZD 7.00 for 90-120 minutes and thereafter NZD 2.00 per hour. Long Term and Premium parking cost NZD 4.00 for 15-30 minutes, NZD 5.00 for 30-60 minutes and NZD 9.00 for 90-120 minutes. However, thereafter, the long term lot charges NZD 2.00 per hour and Premium charges NZD 3.00 per hour. The long term parking charges NZD 19.00 per day and NZD 57.00 per week, whereas short term parking costs NZD 22.00 per day and NZD 110.00 for a week. The Premium lot costs NZD 25.00 per day and NZD 175.00 per week.
At The Airport: Banking and Money Exchange: Several BNZ stores provide currency exchange services and travelers’ checks. Automatic teller machines (ATMs) of BNZ are installed in both the international and domestic terminals. Some of the ATMs dispense both New Zealand and Australian dollars. Westpac ATM is installed in the Domestic Terminal. Food and Beverage: Passengers can enjoy coffees, kiwi rolls, gourmet pies, fresh juices, smoothies, Italian dishes and breakfast. Shopping: The airport features bookstores, specialist shops-florist, clothing, confectionery, luggage and Ballantynes, CD and DVD stores and telecom kiosks. Duty Free: DFS Galleria offers duty and tax free goods such as world-class watches, sunglasses, electronics, fragrances, cosmetics, souvenirs and wines. Other Services: The airport has a pharmacy, postal shop, airline lounges, meeting rooms, Internet kiosks, phones, wireless internet for laptop users and fax service. Disabled Facilities: Wheelchair-accessible wide automatic doors, shuttles and taxis, ATMs with Braille signs, drinking fountains, automatic lifts and washrooms with mobility access make traveling easier for disable passengers.
