News: A modernization and refurbishment plan for the airport has been chalked out. The plan includes a new runway, integrated terminal, multi-level car parking at the domestic terminal, surface parking at the international terminal, aprons and taxiways.

Terminal Transfers: The airport comprises Anna International Terminal (AIT) and Kamaraj Domestic Terminal (KDT) and Cargo Terminal. A link building connects the international and domestic terminals located in the same complex. Different areas of the terminals are accessible via aerobridges and a walkway connects the passenger terminals.

Every thirty minutes, a suburban train starts from Egmore Station and Fort George Station for Tirusulam station, which is within walking distance of the airport. The well-signposted Great Southern Trunk (GST) Road takes you from the airport to the city and vice versa.

Airport Parking: Anna International terminal has 500 parking slots for cars and buses. The parking charges for buses is INR 200/- and for cars is INR 60/-.  Both long term and short term parking facilities are available.

At The Airport:

Banking and Money Exchange: Foreign exchange outlets are in arrivals, departures and city side of the international terminal. The airport complex also has ATM's.

Food and Beverage: Food and beverage outlets, including snack bars, restaurants and vending machines, are located throughout the airport.

Shopping: Duty Free shopping is available in the airport and there are vending machines for newspapers and magazines.

Other Services: Both the terminals have lounges, car rental counters, pre-paid taxi counters and STD/ISD booths. The onsite communication center offers video phones and internet connectivity.Telephones are also in the security hold area and there are medical facilities, trolleys and mineral water at specific water coolers available free-of-charge. You can use a porter service to handle heavy baggage if you wish at a cost. The airport, a no smoking zone, has an art corner and an infant lobby for the young to use and play in.

Disabled Facilities: There are separate parking spaces for disabled passengers and an ambulift facility for easier disembarkation and boarding. The airport also features specially designed toilets, Public Call Offices (PCOs) and rest rooms for the disabled passengers.

Departure Tax: The airport charges INR 700/- in respect of departure tax, which is generally included in the ticket cost.
