News: The two hundred million dollar Domestic Terminal Redevelopment project will enhance pedestrian walkways, car parks and access roads by the end of 2010.

Terminal Transfers: The airport comprises two terminals: International Terminal and Domestic Terminal. A short covered walkway links the two terminals but Australia Coach offers a shuttle bus service between the terminals for passengers who do not want to walk.

Directions: The airport is located north of Cairns Central Business District (CBD).

The airport is accessible via Kennedy Highway (1) and scenic Captain Cook Highway.

Airport Parking: The airport has both long-term and short-term parking facilities for cars and motorbikes. However, vehicles with a float, caravan or trailer and oversize vehicles are not allowed. Fully-automated public car parks are open round the clock. The Public Car Park costs AUD 3.50 up to twenty minutes, AUD 4.00 for 20-40 minutes, AUD 6.00 for 1-2 hours; thereafter, parking costs AUD 2.00 per hour. The park charges AUD 16.00 for the first 24 hours and thereafter AUD 14.00 per day. Vehicles left unattended in the public pick-up/drop-off zones are fined. The public car parks next to the International and Domestic terminals offer spaces for disabled passengers. The Domestic Terminal car park also features parking bays for rental cars.

At The Airport: Banking and Money Exchange: The International Terminal Arrivals and the departure lounge in the Domestic Terminal feature two cash transaction machines. Currency exchange counters are located in the departure lounge, public arrivals hall and the baggage reclaim area of the International Terminal; and the departure lounge of the domestic terminal.

Food and Beverage: An array of eateries serves both local and international food, including Japanese cuisine, fast food, pastries and beverages. Passengers can unwind and enjoy food and drinks in bars and cafes.

Shopping: The airport boasts twenty seven specialty outlets selling souvenirs, Bico jewelry, health and beauty products, Merino wool and sheepskin products, designer labels, Australian gifts, souvenirs, gourmet foods, art and craft, designer surf wear, sunglasses and chocolates.

Duty Free: Downtown Duty Free shop markets tax and duty free products such as sporting equipment, cigarettes, cigars, cameras, perfumes and leather goods.

Other Services: The airport has an airline lounge and club, internet café, mailboxes, baby care rooms, showers, toilets, free trolleys, public telephones for international, interstate and local calls, leading car rental agencies, complimentary telephones for the accommodation center and first aid rooms. Passengers can hire porters for heavy luggage.

Disabled Facilities: Both the terminals have pick-up/drop-off areas for disabled passengers. Escalators, lifts, stairs and adapted toilets are located within the premises for the convenience of the passengers.

Departure Tax: There is no departure tax.
