The airport is located on Coventry Road (A45), near M42 Junction 6. From this junction there are direct road links to other highways including the M1, M5, M6, the new M6 toll road and the M40.
A variety of bus routes link the airport and the city. Buses 58 and 900 travel to Birmingham City centre leaving every half hour, Monday – Saturday. Bus 966 travels to Solihull Rail Station at half hour intervals. Single fares for most journeys are around £1.70. Buses also link to Coleshill Parkway rail station for direct rail connections to the East Midlands.
Birmingham International rail station provides a 20-minute service to Birmingham New Street Station where frequent connections can be made to most of the midlands and other parts of the UK. An Air-Rail Link bus provides a 2-minute ride from the terminals to the station, every 2 minutes. Single fares cost £3.10. Tickets can be purchased from fast-ticket machines or the railway ticket office.
Black cabs provide metered services for Birmingham and Solihull. Longer journeys are on arrangement.
A cycle-route is available over the A45 and cycle parking/storage facilities are available at the airport.
Airport Parking: Parking is available in P1, P2 (short-medium), P2 (long-stay), and P3. A drop-and-go car park charges £1 per 15 minutes. P2 long-stay offers free parking for the first 15 minutes and has a courtesy bus-link to the terminals. Medium duration parking tariffs are £1 per half hour. Pre-booked parking offers the best value.
At The Airport: Banking and Money Exchange: Currency exchange counters and ATMs are located in both terminals.
Food and Beverage: Dining options are plentiful and include restaurants, coffee shops, fast-food outlets, delicatessens, pastry shops and bars.
Shopping: Shopping is varied with 23 retail outlets providing a broad spectrum of goods including electronics, pharmaceuticals, beauty products, fashion, gifts, books and delicatessen items.
Duty Free: Tax and duty-free shops provide electronics, luxury brand fashion and accessories, perfume, cosmetics, and alcoholic beverages.
Other Services: Additional services include a prayer room located between the terminals, baby-changing facilities, business lounges, games areas, postal services and a betting shop. Business facilities are offered at the business lounges and at a Business Point in Terminal 2. Three hotels are located close to the terminal buildings and the NEC exhibition venue is 5 minutes walk from the airport rail station.
