Terminal Transfers: An interesting aspect of Berlin –Tegel Airport is its hexagonal design. With only one terminal, most facilities are only a short walking distance apart and therefore there are no terminal transfers.

Directions: The airport is located 5 miles north-west of Berlin and is connected to the Berlin city motorway, the A100, and the A111 north.
Travel times to Berlin-Tegel Airport are as follows:
Berlin – 5 miles
Magdeburg – 90 miles
Hanover – 156 miles
Information regarding bus services from Berlin-Tegel can be obtained from the BVG office in the main hall of the terminal. Buses depart every ten minutes while taxis are available at the garage for short term parking as well as at terminal A1.

Airport Parking: Berlin-Tegel offers a number of parking options and even provides a discounted parking area.   The centre of the hexagonal terminal, PK, is the parking garage for short term parking where the first 15 minutes costs € 1.00, and for every 15 minutes thereafter, € 2.00. Long term parking can be found in parks P1 and P2 which are located close to the terminal and costs € 4.00 for the first hour. For the second hour expect to be charged € 8.00, and for every hour after that, € 2.50.
Discounted parking can be found in park P5 where 1 week costs € 95.00, around €34.00 less than what you’d pay for parking in either P1 or P2.  Long term parking is now also provided in the area that was intended for the second terminal but was scrapped due to the Berlin- Tegel Airports impending closure. Disabled car parking spaces can be found in car parks P2, P4 and P6.

At The Airport: As one of the busiest airports in Berlin, locals and tourists alike will be sad to lose Berlin-Tegel Airport, mostly because of its centrality to all of Berlin. This will not occur until after 2011 as a 3 airport merger is taking place to make Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI), the new airport for the German capital.

Banking and Money Exchange: In the main hall there are banks, bureaux de change and ATMs.

Food and Beverage: A bite to eat at one of Berlin-Tegel Airports' restaurants, and drinks at one of the airport bars or champagne bar is sure to keep even the most restless of travelers entertained.

Shopping: There are a wide range of stores and boutiques throughout the airport.

Duty Free: There are duty free shops throughout the departure area of the terminal.

Other Services: Inside the airport there is a reasonable amount of entertainment and services for passers-through. The main hall of the terminal is where you can find the information and help desks, post office as well as a left-luggage and lost property facility. 24-hour first aid services and baby change facilities are available. WiFi is accessible free of charge in designated areas throughout the airport.  If you need a bit of intellectual stimulation, you can always meander up to the art and exhibition area.

Disabled Facilities: Wheelchairs are available on request and facilities for disabled travelers include ramped access, adapted toilets and wheelchair-accessible telephones.

Departure Tax: None
