News: In the second phase of BIA development project, a new pier with separate aero-bridges for departing and arriving passengers wil increase the passenger handling capacity by 100%. A runway, transit hotel within the airport complex and an airport access road would also be built.

Terminal Transfers: The airport has one passenger and three cargo terminals. A walkway and aerobridges connect the different sections of the terminal.

Driving is not advisable but an intercity bus service connects the airport with Colombo. Taxis are available at arrival section of the airport.
Airport Parking: The airport offers short term parking for 575 vehicles at Terminal Car Park, just half a kilometer from the terminal, and charges Rs. 60.00 per vehicle. Long term parking at Remote Car Park costs Rs. 50.00 per vehicle.
At The Airport: Banking and Exchange: Both departure and arrival lobbies feature banking facilities and foreign exchange counters are located in the arrival lobby. Food and Beverage: The departure and arrival halls both have restaurants and refreshment areas. Shopping: There is a gift shop and a duty free shopping available in the departure and arrival sections of the airport Other Services: Passenger facilities include a first aid room and two lounges. Postal services are available in transit lounge and arrival porch, and departure section has a Bond Baggage facility. Transit passengers can rest in air-conditioned day rooms with attached toilets. Porters in grey uniform are always ready to assist passengers and charge Rs. 100.00 per bag. Card- and coin-operated telephones are installed in transit, departure and arrival sections. Fax and International Direct Dialling facilities are available at the transit lounge. A first-aid center in the Arrival Immigration area has everything to handle medical emergencies. The airport offers assistance to minors traveling alone and stretcher and wheel chair passengers on request. Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has a created a Wi-Fi Hotspot / Mobile Internet Zone at the airport to facilitate Internet connectivity, especially for the convenience of business travelers. Departure Tax: There is no departure tax. It is included in the air ticket.
